GWINN, MI--   A Gwinn man is in police custody, following a domestic violence incident in Forsyth 


Township Police say it happened Sunday on the 100 block of Warrior Street.

Andre Moore, 37, was arrested for assault with intent to commit murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and domestic violence.

He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Chocolay Township Police and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene. 

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Forsyth Township man has been arrested for stealing a firearm.

Sunday around 2:40 p.m. Forsyth Township officers responded to the 100 block of Savage Street and found an AR 15 assault rifle had been taken from a residence. The victim had video showing the act and a possible suspect, who was identified as a member of the victim’s family.

Officers and state police troopers located the suspect, interviewed him, and later located the weapon in a bedroom in a house on the 300 block of Dart Street.

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two Marquette County residents are jailed for operating a meth lab inside a vehicle.

Monday around 3 p.m. Forsyth Township Police were advised to be on the lookout for a gray Oldsmobile Alero.  Witnesses reported seeing a female, a male passenger, and a meth lab in the vehicle.

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Gwinn man is lodged in the Marquette County Jail for criminal sexual conduct.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and Forsyth Township Police recently completed an investigation of Dennis Forbes, 35.  The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a sexual assault allegedly committed in West Branch Township. Forbes is suspected of having sexual contact with a victim under the age of 13.

Forbes is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct on a victim younger than 13 and second-degree CSC on a victim younger than 13. 

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Gwinn man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly hit a utility pole with his vehicle and left the scene. 

Forsyth Township Police responded around 12:40 a.m. to the area of Jupiter Street on a report that a vehicle had struck a power pole and other property.  The accident caused a power outage on Sawyer that affected numerous residences.

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Gwinn woman has been arrested on embezzlement charges. 

The Forsyth Township Police Department says the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a warrant for Tracy Spruitenburg, 44.  She’s charged with embezzlement—$1,000 or more but less than $20,000.

Officers say the arrest was the result of a six-week investigation into the allegation that Spruitenburg took a large sum of money from the Pines Condo Association.  She was association treasurer from August 2015 to September 2016. 

GWINN, MI--   A Gwinn man is in custody, after witnesses saw him drive a car into the Happy Hour Bar. 

Forsyth Township Police say on October 13 a green Toyota was eastbound on M-35 when it left the road, drove across the front lawn of the FirstMerit bank, across Pearce Street, and into the side of the bar.  The vehicle left before officers arrived.

After a search police found the vehicle and a suspect, identified as Kirk Bragenzer, 25, who struggled with officers when he was arrested. 

MARQUETTE, MI--   Additional charges have been levied against a Gwinn man accused of sexually assaulting a girl younger than 13. 

On October 7 Forsyth Township Police arrested Cory Pierce, 52, on five counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime.  He was already lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct from a previous investigation.

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   Officials are looking for the person responsible for damaging a memorial stone at a DNR Grouse Enhanced Management Site in southern Marquette County.  

GEMS are unique ruffed grouse hunting areas that provide opportunities for a variety of hunters. 

On September 9th the South Marquette County GEMS was dedicated to Bill Rollo, a DNR wildlife technician who was instrumental in creating that particular area along County Road 438.  A memorial stone was erected there, along with an informational kiosk. 

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Gwinn man has been arrested on charges he sexually assaulted a girl younger than 13. 

Forsyth Township Police arrested Cory Steven Pierce, 50, for second-degree criminal sexual conduct, a 15-year felony.  Officers investigated a report that Pierce had inappropriate contact with a neighborhood girl. 

Pierce is lodged at the Marquette County Jail on 10 percent of a $100,000 bond.
