Veterans' Reflections

Veterans Day

Once again this year, Public Radio 90 is proud to present Veterans' Reflections, a collection of poems and stories from local and area veterans about their experiences in the military, from Vietnam to the Cold War to Afghanistan and Iraq. Our writers include Alex Gubbins, Michael Greer, Milton Bates, Robin Romero and Al Learst.

Local military veterans, along with one son of a veteran, share stories and poems of life in the U.S. armed forces overseas, after the return home, and as children of veterans. Their words will tell the stories you don’t see on television or read in the newspapers, the stories of regular folk put in extraordinary situations.

 Individual stories:

Kaylyn Bernard's untitled story is about her taking part in the 2013 Boston Marathon. She was a combat veteran in Iraq serving in 2006 as MOS 92-A, Automated Logistical Specialist.

Veterans' Reflections 2012

Nov 12, 2012

In this Public Radio 90 Veterans Day special hosted by Hans Ahlstrom, local military veterans share stories and poems of what life is like as members of the U.S. armed forces overseas. Their words will tell the stories you don’t see on television or read in the newspapers—the stories of regular folk put in extraordinary situations far from home.
