Women sentenced for trying to pass drugs to inmate

HOUGHTON, MI--   Sentencing was held Monday for two women who were caught trying to pass drugs to a Houghton County Jail inmate. 

Jamie Ekdahl, 28, and Sarah McMahon, 35, were arrested April 20 following a court hearing, when the prescription drugs were found. 

Both pleaded guilty to attempted delivery of a controlled substance.  They were sentenced to two years of probation.  Ekdahl will also have to serve five months in the Houghton County Jail. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
