UPSET arrests major suspect in Houghton meth lab cases

HOUGHTON, MI--   After a three-month investigation, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team says it has identified one of the primary suspects involved with two meth labs seized recently in Houghton County.

On Monday detectives executed a search warrant at a Spruce Lane residence in Houghton. The suspect—a 35-year-old man—was arrested for delivery/manufacture of meth, operating a meth lab, soliciting another to obtain pseudoephedrine, and possession/purchase of pseudoephedrine to make meth.

He’s lodged at the Houghton County Jail.

A second suspect—a 29-year-old man from Hancock—was also arrested at the residence and jailed for possession of methamphetamine. A search of the house uncovered numerous components used to make meth.

Additional charges are pending review by the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
