UPEC offers environmental grants

MARQUETTE, MI--   The deadline to submit an application for a couple of environmental grant programs is quickly approaching.

Each year the Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition provides money through its Community Conservation and Environmental Education grants.

The Community Conservation grant program is designed to challenge U.P. communities to promote conservation values within their watershed or local area.

UPEC also reminds educators of its Environmental Education Grant. Grant maximums are $500 per year.

The application deadline for both grants is January 17.

More information is available on the UPEC website at upenvironment.org/upec-grants.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
