Truck hits bicyclist in Iron River

IRON RIVER, MI--   A bicyclist was struck and injured by a vehicle in Iron River Tuesday.

Iron River Police were dispatched around 9:20 a.m. to US-2 near Hunter Road and found the bicycle rider had been hit by a pickup truck.

The bicyclist was taken to Northstar Health System, then transferred to UP Health System Marquette for treatment of their injuries. 

The names of those involved have not yet been released. 

Iron River Police were assisted at the scene by State Police from the Iron Mountain Post, the Iron County Sheriff’s Department, and the Caspian-Gaastra Police Department.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
