Trial scheduled for Chippewa County CSC suspect

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   Trial is set for a Chippewa County man accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

William Mastaw, 19, was arrested in October after Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at his residence. They allegedly found child sexually abusive material.

Mastaw is charged with six counts of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct and one count each of kidnapping, child abusive commercial activity, and using a computer to commit a crime.

The assaults reportedly took place at several different locations over an extended period of time.

Trial is set for May 23-25 in Chippewa County Circuit Court.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
