Tech holds Winter Carnival All Nighter

HOUGHTON, MI--   Michigan Tech’s Winter Carnival kicks into high gear Wednesday night with its ice-sculpting All Nighter.

This year’s theme is “Myths and tales of the past in our frigid forecast.” Students will be challenged to build statues between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday. They’ll compete in men’s groups, women’s groups, and co-ed groups.

This year students and members of the public will attempt to set a new world record. During “Snowman Left Behind” they’ll aim to break the Guinness World Record for the most snowmen built in one hour. The current record, set in japan in 2015, is 2,036. The attempt takes place Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sherman Field.
