HOUGHTON, MI (AP)-- Michigan Technological University is offering more students a chance to earn a master's degree while working in the Peace Corps.
New degree options under the program include computer science and electrical and computer engineering. Additionally, the School of Forest Resources is expanding its participation to include a master of geographic information science degree.
Students in the Peace Corps Master's International program typically take two semesters of courses on campus before volunteering for two years overseas, then returning to Michigan Tech to finish their studies.
Program director Kari Henquinet says the Houghton-based university now has 68 students taking part and hopes the expanded list of degrees that can be earned will attract others.
