Superior waves still flooding Marquette street

MARQUETTE, MI--   Lakeshore Boulevard between Hawley and Wright streets in Marquette is still closed, as strong winds continue to whip up huge waves.

The street was blocked to traffic Wednesday afternoon when waves between 17 and 26 feet poured over riprap along the beach and flooded the roadway.  Continuous heavy rain made the flooding worse.

Marquette Police say the waves threw large boulders from the lake onto the street and the parking lot of Picnic Rocks, which is also flooded.

Lakeshore will reopen when conditions improve.
