Sports resignations at U.P. universities

MARQUETTE, MI--   Changes have affected sports programs at NMU and Michigan Tech.

This week Northern Director of Athletics Forrest Karr announced head football coach Chris Ostrowsky’s contract won’t be renewed. A national search will be conducted for his replacement.

In Houghton, head football coach Tom Kearly announced his retirement after Tech’s final game of the season.  He coached for 11 seasons.  Defensive coordinator Steve Olson has been selected to replace Kearly.

And NMU’s head volleyball coach Dominic Yoder resigned Tuesday.  A national search for his replacement will begin immediately.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
