Snowmobile trail across Menominee River opened

DICKINSON COUNTY, MI--   The Department of Natural Resources has reopened part of a snowmobile trail in Dickinson County.

The bridge over the Menominee River was repaired ahead of schedule, and riders can now use the trail between Pine Mountain Road in Michigan and Romitti Drive in Wisconsin.

A recent analysis of the bridge determined the railings and decking were unsafe for snowmobile travel. Modifications were made to meet current safety standards, resulting in a narrower width and one-way designation. Future plans to install a new deck include a much wider surface.
