Second suspect in Watton robbery case caught

SHAWANO, WI--   The second of two suspects wanted in a Baraga County armed robbery case has been arrested in Wisconsin.

On August 1, the suspects—pretending to be U.S. Marshals—held a Watton couple at gunpoint and threatened to shoot them unless family members paid $10,000.  They eventually fled after stealing some items.

One of the suspects was located August 5 in a residence in Stephenson.

On Wednesday the second suspect was found and arrested in Shawano, Wisconsin.  U.S. Marshal Service deputies apprehended him following a tip that lead to a traffic stop.  After the suspect ran from the vehicle authorities established a search area and took him into custody a short time later.

The subject was lodged in the Brown County Jail until his arraignment in U.S. Federal Court in Green Bay for impersonating a federal agent.  Once extradited back to Michigan he will be arraigned on local charges.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
