TAX RATE FOR OPERATING VETERANS SERVICE OFFICE AND THE VETERANS RELIEF FUND

Shall the millage rate limitation of 0.2000 Mills (Which is equal to twenty cents per one thousand dollars of taxable value) be assessed against all taxable value of real and tangible personal property in Schoolcraft County for a period of five years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 inclusive) for the purpose of funding the Veterans Relief Fund and the Full Time Operation of the Veterans Service Office.  The millage would replace the former 0.1000 mill formerly levied by Schoolcraft County.  It is estimated that this proposal will generate revenue of approximately $69,500 during the first calendar year of the proposition.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MILLAGE PROPOSAL

Shall the tax limitation on all taxable property within the County of Schoolcraft, Michigan, be increased and the County be authorized to levy a new additional millage in an amount not to exceed .319 mill ($0.319 on each $1,000 of taxable value) for five (5) years, 2016 to 2020 inclusive, to provide funds for the purpose of providing for economic development in the County, including all economic development corporation purposes authorized by law?  The estimate of the revenue the County will collect if the millage is approved and levied in the 2016 calendar year is approximately $113,448.   A portion of the revenue collected may be subject to capture by the City of Manistique Downtown Development Authority and revenue collected may also be disbursed to the Schoolcraft County Economic Development Corporation.

CONSOLIDATED SENIOR SERVICES MILLAGE PROPOSAL

This proposal will authorize a single new consolidated senior services millage to rescind and replace the existing millage authorization of 0.4697 mill which voters previously approved in August 2012, which would otherwise expire with the 2017 levy (i.e. the Manistique Senior Citizens Center millage).  This new single consolidated senior services millage, in the amount of 0.90 mill, would provide funds to the County for the purpose of funding activities and services for the benefit of senior citizens throughout the County, including operational activities, services, and senior citizen centers.

Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed on taxable property in the County of Schoolcraft, Michigan, be increased by 0.90 mill ($0.90 per $1,000 of taxable value), for a period of twenty (20) years, 2016 to 2035, inclusive, as new additional millage to provide funds for purposes of providing improvement of the social, legal, health, housing, educational, emotional, nutritional, recreational, or mobility status of senior citizens ("older citizens") pursuant to Public Act 39 of 1976?  It is estimated that 0.90 mill would raise approximately $320,074 when first levied in 2016.
