Raptors hatch chicks on International Bridge

International Bridge Authority

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   Two peregrine falcon chicks have hatched on the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie.

The International Bridge Administration’s new FalCam caught the chicks hatching Thursday morning. Last year the same pair of endangered raptors hatched four chicks. A total of 24 falcon chicks have hatched on the bridge since 2010, when officials started counting.

Watching the birds has become a popular pastime—the IBA says since the FalCam went online, website usage has increased 46 percent.

To see the falcons, go to saultbridge.com/falcam.

Peregrines have also laid eggs in a box on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. A live feed can be accessed at pasty.com/nestbox.html.
