Rafter's body found in Menominee River

DICKINSON COUNTY, MI (AP)--   Authorities say the body of a rafter has been found in the Menominee River along the Michigan-Wisconsin border. 

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Department says the 59-year-old man was part of a group rafting on Piers Gorge when the raft tipped over Tuesday afternoon.  Authorities say his body was found later in the day.

His name and hometown have not yet been released.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
