"Project Graduation" looking to raise funds

MARQUETTE, MI--   The planners of a post-graduation party for Marquette Senior High School seniors are hoping to make it free for each student.

Project Graduation is an all-night, substance-free, chaperoned party at the Superior Dome. Held the evening of graduation day, June 3, it’s designed to give the kids a safe way to connect with their classmates a final time before they move on. The party is paid for by the seniors’ parents through grants, monetary and non-monetary donations, and fundraising.

The goal for the 2018 committee is to provide all 232 members of the senior class a ticket at no cost and to start an endowment for future graduating classes. A GoFundMe page has been set up as mshsprojectgraduation2018.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
