Price of gas continues to drop

DEARBORN, MI (AP)--   Triple A Michigan says gas prices statewide have fallen by about 6 cents over the past week.

The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.49 per gallon on Sunday. That's about $1.09 less than at the same time last year.

According to the club, gas prices in the state have dropped by at least six cents for five straight weeks.

AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state. The lowest average price was about $2.40 per gallon in the Benton Harbor area, while the highest average was about $2.58 in the Traverse City area.
