Price of gas up 12 cents

DEARBORN, MI (AP)--   AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have risen by about 12 cents a gallon in the past week.

The Dearborn-based auto club says late Monday that the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.50 per gallon. That's about 16 cents less than it was at the same point last year.

The lowest average price was about $2.45 per gallon in the Marquette area, while the highest average was about $2.54 per gallon in the Ann Arbor area.

AAA says interruptions in crude oil deliveries to refineries due to Canadian fires and refinery maintenance contributed to the increase. Last week, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder took steps to ease the gas supply crunch.

AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state.
