Potulny agrees to 8-year contract with NMU

MARQUETTE, MI--   NMU’s hockey coach has signed a new, eight-year deal with the university.

Under the agreement Grant Potulny will receive $285,000 per year base salary, plus a car stipend, personal expense allowance, and the potential for performance bonuses.

Potulny just completed his first season at Northern. He was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Men’s Hockey Coach of the Year after leading the wildcats to a Top 20 national ranking and second place in the WCHA regular season.

NMU Director of Athletics Forrest Karr says the school is constantly striving to be among the nation’s elite programs, and the coaching staff and new agreement reflects Northern’s commitment to continued success.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
