MARQUETTE, MI-- Marquette City Police are investigating the death of a man during the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Race.
Officers were notified Saturday around 2:30 p.m. that a 37-year-old racer from Elm Grove, Wisconsin was overdue at the finish line. Police initiated a search and found the man just off the race course near the 1900 block of Presque Isle Avenue. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
The police department was assisted by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette General Hospital EMS, and Ore to Shore race officials.
