One injured in car-semi traffic crash

Negaunee Township, MI - A Negaunee man is injured following a car-semi accident on US-41 near the old airport. Sheriff’s deputies say the accident happened yesterday at about 4:30pm near Pond Road when a Ford Taurus rear-ended the semi as the truck was preparing to make a left turn off the highway. Both vehicles were travelling west on US-41 when the semi slowed for another vehicle that was turning onto the the median. The truck then began to speed up when it was struck by the Taurus. The driver of the car, 31 year old Ryan Rogers of Negaunee, was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi, 58 year old Charles Fortin of Big Bay was not injured in the accident. Traffic on US-41 was reduced to one-lane in each direction for about one hour. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident… which remains under investigation.
