Negaunee man involved in single-vehicle crash

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A rollover accident in Negaunee Township has injured one person.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post say the crash happened Sunday around 1:30 p.m. on US-41 just east of Midway Drive near the Midway Industrial Park.  Lige Johnson, 52, of Negaunee was westbound when he drifted onto the paved median, over-corrected, and lost control of his Trailblazer.  The vehicle then crossed both westbound lanes, went into the ditch, and overturned, trapping Johnson inside.

The Marquette County Extrication Unit freed Johnson, who was taken to U.P. Health System Marquette with non-life-threatening injuries.

Johnson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
