MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI-- Only one portion of roadway remains closed, following Tuesday’s flooding of the Chocolay River in Marquette County.
State Police at the Negaunee Post say M-94 between County Road 545 South and Townline Road is closed because a bridge was washed out. There’s no word on when the stretch might reopen.
Officials say the flooding also affected several Marquette County residents. Senior Chief Petty Officer Patrick Brown of Coast Guard Station Marquette says they and other personnel rescued ten people and three dogs along the Chocolay just before daylight on Tuesday.
More than three inches of rain fell between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, pushing the river beyond flood stage.
