MARQUETTE, MI-- The body of a missing Skandia man has been found in the Forestville area.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says John Rowland was found Saturday at 10:39 a.m. in a wooded area north of where his van was found.
A Blackhawk Medevac helicopter from the Wisconsin Army National Guard located Rowland about 15 minutes after it arrived.
Rowland was taken to the UPHS-Marquette morgue by Marquette Township Fire and Rescue. An autopsy is expected to be performed this week. The investigation is ongoing, pending the results of the autopsy.
Assisting in the search was a Cessna 172 operated by volunteer members of the Civil Air Patrol based out of the Houghton County Airport.
A Michigan State Police helicopter called in to search was diverted to Mt. Pleasant following a fatal shooting at Central Michigan University Friday morning.
