Marquette corrections officer honored

MARQUETTE, MI--   An employee with the Marquette Branch Prison has been named Corrections Officer of the Year.

The Michigan Department of Corrections chose Scott Nadeau for 2015.  Nadeau has been with the DOC for 18 years, having also worked at the Alger Correctional Facility.  He’s spent the past 13 years in Marquette.

Nadeau helped develop the Marquette Branch Prison’s Interim Care Program for prisoners who have severe mental disorders, and officials say his continued involvement is a big factor in the program’s success.

Nadeau is also credited with saving prisoners from injury and death in numerous medical emergencies.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
