Marquette chef named Chef of the Year

MARQUETTE, MI--   The American Culinary Federation-Upper Michigan Culinarians have recognized a Marquette chef as Chef of the Year.

Nichole Durley is Chef de Cuisine at Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery downtown.  She completed the Cordon Bleu program at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago in 2005, and has been a member of the ACF for more than ten years, including chapters in Chicago and New Orleans.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by my peers in the American Culinary Federation,” Durley said.  “The ACF holds a high standard of professionalism within the industry and I try to promote that standard in the workplace.”

Durley has also been involved in the OSF Heart of Gold and Beaumier Heritage dinners, and is a board member of the U.P. Children’s Museum Culinary Journey fundraiser.

Durley was given the award at a dinner Sunday at Elizabeth’s Chophouse.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
