Man arrested for attempted murder in Manistique

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique man is jailed without bond on an attempted murder charge. 

The Manistique Public Safety Department was called Monday around 11:50 p.m. to a home on Michigan Avenue and found a woman who’d received a severe laceration to her throat.  Officers determined she didn’t live at the home, but had gone there for help. 

After further investigation police arrested a 58-year-old man, who was found at a house on Garden Avenue around 2 a.m.  He was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail under no bond conditions.

The victim was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, treated for the serious wound, and eventually released. 

Michigan State Police and Sault Tribal Police assisted in the investigation.  No further details have yet been released. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
