Kayak group rescued from Pictured Rocks

MUNISING, MI--   It hasn’t been a good week for kayakers on Lake Superior.

Monday evening 11 kayakers had to be rescued during a storm from an island in Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin.

On Wednesday a Pictured Rocks cruise ship picked up more than 30 kayakers that were part of a guided tour to the rocks, according to WLUC-TV.  On their return trip high winds made it difficult for several of the paddlers to make any headway toward shore.  A passing cruise ship came upon the kayakers, noticed they were in dire straits, and lifted them onto the boat.

All were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
