It's Adoption Day in Michigan

LANSING, MI (AP)--   A Michigan Supreme Court justice joins other judges in approving adoptions as part the state's 12th annual adoption day.

About 2,160 kids in foster care were adopted in fiscal year 2014 and another 2,500 children are hoping to be adopted.

About 30 communities have scheduled adoption day events. Organizers say the goal is to inspire more families to consider adoption and raise awareness of children in foster care.

The morning ceremony includes the presentation of a lifetime achievement award to Jeffrey Albaugh. The Calhoun County Friend of the Court's office has collected more than $600 million in child support during his 34-year tenure.
