Ishpeming Schools select new chief

ISHPEMING, MI--   A new superintendent has been chosen for the Ishpeming Public Schools District.

The school board has selected John Summerhill for the top post.  For the past seven years Summerhill has been the principal of Center Line High School in the Detroit area.

Interim superintendent Dan Paul resigned in January, citing health reasons.  School business manager Tony Bertucci has been acting in his stead in the interim.

The Ishpeming School Board will begin negotiations with Summerhill sometime this week.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
