Ishpeming police arrest robbery suspect

ISHPEMING, MI--   A Negaunee man is in custody for robbing an Ishpeming business.

Ishpeming Police say Thursday around 8:40 a.m. a man walked into Snyder’s RX Express, pointed a gun, and took two bottles of narcotics.  He fled through the building’s back door, ran down an alley, and dumped the gun—which turned out to be fake—in a dumpster.

K-9 units were brought in to search for the subject downtown.  Police encountered and questioned one man, but discovered he wasn’t their suspect.

Around 1 p.m. State Police responded to Oak Tree Townhomes on Midway Drive on an unrelated matter, and found a 33-year-old Negaunee man hiding in a shed.  They allegedly found evidence on him linking him to the robbery.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released, pending arraignment.
