Iron County logging truck goes up in flames

IRON COUNTY, MI--   Fire has destroyed a logging truck in Iron County.

The Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened Monday around 2 p.m. on County Road 643.  The driver had parked the loaded truck on the north side of the Paint River Bridge about an hour and a half earlier after experiencing mechanical problems.  He had left to retrieve some tools.

When the driver returned he found the truck fully engulfed in flames.  A passerby had called 911 just before he arrived.

The fire was extinguished by the Hematite Township Fire Department.  No injuries were reported.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical problem.
