Inmate escapes from Gogebic County Jail

BESSEMER, MI--    The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man who escaped from jail Monday night.

Officers noticed Daniel Ferguson, 26, was missing around 8:50 p.m. He’s a 6-foot-tall, 180-pound white male with hazel eyes and blond hair. Ferguson has tattoos on his neck, chest, upper arms, and left hand.

Deputies say Ferguson was last seen wearing black and white-striped pants and an orange T-shirt. He was barefoot, headed north on Moore Street in the City of Bessemer.

Ferguson was lodged on a charge of operating while impaired and felony probation violation warrants from Wisconsin.

Officials say residents are advised to lock their homes and vehicles. Anyone who sees Ferguson should immediately call 911.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
