Injuries sustained in Ishpeming crash

ISHPEMING, MI--   Two people are injured, following a three-vehicle accident in Ishpeming.

City Police say the crash happened Thursday around 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Lakeshore Drive.

They say a Chevy Cavalier driven by a 17-year-old Ishpeming male was westbound on 41 when a northbound Ford Explorer driven by a 23-year-old Ishpeming woman failed to stop for a red light on Lakeshore.  The explorer struck the cavalier, and the force of the crash pushed the cavalier into a Buick Rendezvous sitting at the intersection.  The Buick was driven by a 56-year-old Champion woman.

Two people were taken to Bell Hospital—one with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Explorer was cited for failure to yield.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
