HOUGHTON, MI-- Nine communities around Michigan—including one in the Upper Peninsula—have been awarded nearly $7 million in grants to upgrade water and sewer systems.
The money comes through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Infrastructure Capacity Enhancement program. It’s designed to assist low- and moderate-income communities in improving existing infrastructure.
The City of Houghton has received more than $877,000 for water main installation and sanitary sewer line improvements.
The project must be completed by December 31, 2017.
