Historical Society of Michigan releases updated travel guide

Historical Society of Michigan

LANSING, MI (AP)--   The Historical Society of Michigan has released a seventh edition of its Historic Michigan Travel Guide.

The richly illustrated guide features 525 museums, sites and historical attractions.

It's divided by regions of the state. Within each section, sites are listed alphabetically by city or town name. Each entry has information that a visitor would need.

To be included, an entry must be operated by a member organization of the historical society and have a location open to the public.

A new feature of the guide is a historic inns category. There are also codes that connect readers to online information through smartphones and other devices.

The Associated Press is one of the largest and most trusted sources of independent newsgathering, supplying a steady stream of news to its members, international subscribers and commercial customers. AP is neither privately owned nor government-funded; instead, it's a not-for-profit news cooperative owned by its American newspaper and broadcast members.
