Four cars crash in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two people were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash in Marquette Township Thursday.

State Police from the Negaunee Post say the accident happened around 9:45 on US-41 near Northwoods Road.  A westbound van driven by Shawn Hodgins, 31, of Marquette lost control, crossed the median, and struck three eastbound vehicles in a chain reaction.

Hit in the crash were vehicles driven by Frank Paris, 54, of Negaunee; Albert Randall, 45, of Negaunee; and Roy Byman, 33, of Negaunee.

Hodgins and his passenger, David Smith, 22, of Marquette, were taken to Upper Peninsula Health System Marquette with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hodgins was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
