HOUGHTON, MI-- A former Houghton High School track and football coach has been arraigned in Michigan for possessing child pornography.
The Daily Mining Gazette reports Don Sawaski, 71, was arrested as a fugitive from justice in Longmont, Colorado in January. He was being investigated for sexually assaulting male athletes from the 1970s through the early 1990s and for having child porn on his computer.
Sawaski was extradited to Michigan and arraigned Friday on two counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.
He’s free on a $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for May 2 in Houghton County District Court.
