Fire guts Ironwood house

IRONWOOD, MI--   No injuries are reported, following a house fire in Ironwood. 

The Ironwood Public Safety Department says the blaze broke out shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday at 131 South Mansfield Street.

The building—which is a duplex—is considered a total loss.  Officials say all tenants were able to evacuate safely.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

The Hurley Police and Fire departments, Iron County Sheriff’s Department, and Red Cross assisted at the scene.         

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
