Drunk driver assaults Ontonagon deputies

ONTONAGON, MI--   A Lake Linden man is jailed after he got into an altercation with police following a car accident in Ontonagon County.

Sheriff’s deputies say Friday around 6:30 a.m. they found a vehicle in the ditch on M-26 near M-38.  They say the intoxicated driver—Duv Keeling, 52—was still inside and became combative during the investigation.  A passerby stopped to help police detain Keeling, who was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital due to his intoxication and unwillingness to cooperate.  A blood draw indicated keeling had a .37 percent blood alcohol concentration—which is more than four times the legal limit in Michigan.

Keeling is charged with driving while intoxicated—high BAC, malicious destruction of property, resisting and obstructing, and carrying a dangerous weapon (knife) with unlawful intent.  He remains lodged at the Ontonagon County Jail on ten percent of a $50,000 bond.
