Drug arrests stem from Ishpeming Township incident

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people have been arrested by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a drug incident in Ishpeming Township.

Deputies were dispatched Monday at 9:32 a.m. to School Street on a report of an unresponsive female lying in a yard from an alleged drug overdose.  Upon investigation a male subject was also found in a drug-induced state.  Both were taken to UPHS Bell.

Deputies received information that a second female had fled the house into the woods in a drug-induced state.  A K-9 officer was called in to track her, but a friend came in an Oldsmobile Alero and picked her up.  When deputies tried to stop the vehicle the driver led them on a high-speed chase through North Lake onto Westwood Drive.  The driver lost control of the Alero, which landed on the grassy shoulder.  The driver fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken to UPHS Marquette.  The passenger was treated at the scene.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the School Street residence and uncovered evidence of drug paraphernalia and drug use.  The driver was found to have multiple warrants and was arrested.  The male suspect was arrested on a parole detainer.

The case remains under investigation.
