Driver leads MI, WI police on chase

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A driver is lodged in the Forest County, Wisconsin Jail, following a high-speed chase that started in the U.P.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post tried to conduct a traffic stop Friday on US-2 near Idlewild Road in Crystal Falls Township.  The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued, with units from the Iron County Sheriff’s Department and Iron River Police Department assisting.

Police stopped the chase when the suspect vehicle crossed the Wisconsin border.  The suspect was later pursued by Wisconsin law enforcement, who deployed stop sticks to halt the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody by the Forest County Sheriff’s Department and lodged on local charges.  Charges will also be sought by Michigan State Police through the Iron County Prosecutor’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
