DNR doing more brook trout research in U.P.

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Michigan DNR has announced that select rivers across the U.P. again will be part

of a 2015 angler survey during inland trout season.

It’s designed to evaluate angler response and the potential effects of an experimental rule allowing five additional trout to be taken in those areas.

The regulation applies to segments of:

  • Bryan Creek in Marquette and Dickinson counties
  • East Branch of the Huron River in Baraga and Marquette counties
  • East Branch of the Tahquamenon River in Chippewa County
  • East Branch of the Ontonagon River in Houghton and Iron counties
  • Dead River in Marquette County
  • Driggs River in Schoolcraft County
  • Presque Isle River and tributaries in Gogebic County
  • Lower Rock River and tributaries in Alger County.

Input can be submitted through survey cards at those sites or through an online form.
