COUNTY PROPOSAL

MILLAGE TO CREATE A COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS’ AFFAIRS

 

 

Shall the 15 mill tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes within Dickinson County be increased as provided by Article 9, Section 6 of the Constitution of the State of Michigan, and the County of Dickinson be authorized to levy up to 0.10 mills (10 cents per $1,000 taxable valuation) for a period of ten years (2017 through 2026 inclusively), on all taxable property within Dickinson County for the purpose of creating and maintaining a County Department of Veterans' Affairs, which will provide support and assistance to veterans residing in Dickinson County, which increase shall raise in the first year of the levy, if fully captured, an estimated $89,000.00.

CITY OF IRON MOUNTAIN

CHARTER AMENDMENT

 

 

1. The City of Iron Mountain City Charter shall be amended as follows: The City of Iron Mountain City Council is proposing to eliminate in its entirety section 7.11 of the Charter. This provision currently establishes employment requirements for certain employees and prospective employees of the City. Section 7.11 currently requires the City to conduct competitive examinations for certain City positions. It also establishes criteria for promotion, discipline and/or termination of employment. By eliminating this section, the City will no longer be required to utilize the Civil Service process.

2. The current charter section(s) being altered by this amendment provides as follows: Section 7.11 is would be repealed in its entirety.
