DETROIT (AP) — The building housing the offices of the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News has been evacuated while authorities examine a package dropped off at the entrance.
The Detroit Free Press said that according to a security guard at the building, a vehicle pulled up in front of the building on Sunday evening, a man got out and used a dolly to wheel a red coin Detroit News newspaper box up to the building. The box has a white ribbon around it and stenciled on the side are the letters POW. Visible from the front window of the box is a 1995 Detroit, according to the Free Press.
Monday is the anniversary of the beginning of a bitter strike against the Detroit newspapers on July 13, 1995.
