DCHS looking for resident input on current situation

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   Dickinson County Healthcare System is holding a town hall meeting to discuss its future.

A sales agreement between the hospital and Bellin Health was recently terminated because DCHS suffered unanticipated losses. Officials are now urging residents to stay in town for their health care so their dollars can be kept local.

The hospital is also creating what it calls an Internal Strengthening Plan, designed to increase patient volumes and financial stability.

DCHS says if the situation doesn’t improve, residents may have to go out-of-town for their healthcare.

The town hall takes place Thursday at 6 p.m. in Fornetti Hall on Bay College’s Iron Mountain campus.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
