Clarity hearing for Delta County recall language scheduled for next month

ESCANABA, MI--   The Delta County Election Commission will meet next month to consider the wording of a petition to recall Garden and Fairbanks Township officials.

The petition targets Garden Township Supervisor Morgan Tatrow and Fairbanks Township Supervisor Ron Collins, Clerk Kathryn Denholm, and Trustee James Dalgord.

The four are accused of conflicts of interest regarding the Heritage Wind Farm on the Garden Peninsula. The officials allegedly have wind leases with Heritage Sustainable Energy but didn’t recuse themselves from involvement in a proposed expansion project. The wind farm has 14 turbines and is looking to add 40 more.

The Election Commission will hold a clarity hearing May 7 to either approve or deny the recall petition wording.
