Car hits cemetery gate in Ontonagon

ONTONAGON, MI--   An Ontonagon man was arrested after crashing his car into a cemetery gate. 

Ontonagon County Undersheriff Gerald Balcomb says his office was called Saturday around 7:40 p.m. to the Evergreen Cemetery on M-8.  A deputy located the suspect vehicle and arrested the 41-year-old driver for operating while intoxicated – 3rd offense, resisting and obstructing, malicious destruction of property, and open intoxicant in a motor vehicle.

The suspect posted a $5,000 bond.  His arraignment is scheduled for April 20. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
