Capsized kayaker saved from Lake Superior

GRAND ISLAND, MI--   Four kayakers are safe, after they capsized in Lake Superior near Grand Island Friday.

According to WLUC-TV a group was paddling near the island when one of the kayakers capsized and became separated from the others.  Around 1 p.m. the Coast Guard in Sault Ste. Marie received a message that three other kayakers had also capsized.

The Marquette Coast Guard Station sent a boat and Air Station Traverse City sent a helicopter to the scene.  The helicopter lifted one of the kayakers to safety.  Officials learned the other kayakers were able to make it to shore.

The Coast Guard was assisted by the National Park Service.
